Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..WED.3/15/06 Be on time. Lateness can
signal a lack of respect for those you keep waiting. At least, that's how they
might view it. However acceptable you think lateness has become, you can bet it
still grates on those whose time is compromised. Aside from that, constantly running
late is a stress factory. It'll fry your nerves, make you prone to errors and
accidents, weaken your immune system, age you prematurely. Get hooked on the relaxed,
liberating feeling of being ahead of schedule. All it takes is some planning,
practice and empathy for others. Everyone wins when you're on time. Why make yourself
crazy?
Today's Health Headlines Previous Stress Tip Start on time. If you're running a meeting, practice, class, seminar, presentation, or other scheduled event, begin promptly at the designated time. Waiting for people to drift in at their leisure only condones their lateness, penalizes those who made the effort to arrive punctually, and sends the message it's okay to be late again next time. Start perhaps with a less important part of your program, but at least have something going so the latecomers know they're late. And don't stop or backtrack on their account. Why throw off your schedule, and everyone else's, to accommodate an inconsiderate few? Why make yourself crazy?
