Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..WED.7/06/05 Is your cell phone becoming a stress zone? Granted,
in one respect having a cell phone is a great stress reliever. We can be immediately
in touch with those important to us. That's reassuring. But there's a price we
pay for instant accessibility. When your cell phone is always on, it's unsettling
to know your privacy can be breeched at any moment. It's also disconcerting when
it rings at awkward times, or puts you at risk scrambling to answer it. Not to
mention intrusive rings and loud conversations in public places that stress everyone.
A cell phone comes with its own set of anxieties. So don't let it run your life.
Don't give everyone your number and carte blanche to call you at any time. Keep
your cell phone turned off unless you're expecting an important call. You can
always check your voicemail when convenient. Declare your independence from the
phone, rather than let it master you. Why make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip Don't assume others learn by their mistakes. You've been the unlucky victim of another's error. But just because they acknowledge and apologize for it (often merely lip service) doesn't mean they won't do it again. In fact, it's more than LIKELY they'll screw up again. Why? Because many people today are either too busy or too proud to make changes. Or they just don't care. An unfortunate reality. So be wary if you continue to deal with people or entities who have done you wrong. Ask if they've made any adjustments to prevent a repeat. If you don't like the answer, you'd do well to seek alternatives. Why make yourself crazy?
