we're layers of excuses and justifications removed from the real reasons we act
and feel the way do. What is the REAL reason you're angry with a loved one? You
resent a neighbor or coworker? You over-schedule your life? You need to keep acquiring
things? You want to win so badly? Be honest, look beneath your apparent motives
and cut to the truth. You may find pride, envy, guilt, or insecurity lurking beneath.
And once you acknowledge it, you can start to curb the stressful drives, or defuse
the combustible situations, these feelings create. Come clean with your motives.
The last person you need to fool is yourself. Why make yourself crazy?
Today's Health Headlines Previous Stress Tip Get out and socialize. Tear yourself away from the total immersion of your work and spend some diverting wind-down time with family, friends and associates. The harder it is to do, the more you need to do it. Periodic disengagement replenishes energy and sparks ideas, lets you step back and see what direction you're headed, alerts you if you're being too single-minded. This is not a luxury, it's a necessity. And try not to bring your travails along with you. The more you get lost in your diversion, the greater the benefits will be.
