Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..FRI.04/29/05 The best defense is a good offense. A
good way to get demanding people off your back is to get on theirs. For example,
if someone at work is always bugging you for things they can just as easily get
for themselves (assuming it's not your boss), go on the offensive. Start hitting
them up with requests. The last thing they want is to do for others what they're
too lazy to do for themselves. They'll quietly vanish. The same with freeloaders.
Got a neighbor who keeps asking for favors yet never reciprocates? Show up at
their door a few times to borrow something. They'll avoid you like the plague.
Enjoy the reduced annoyance that goes with this. It's very empowering to turn
the tables on someone who uses you...and watch them turn tail and run. Why make
yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip Reject rejection. You were
turned down for a job. You were refused a date. Your ideas were dismissed in a
meeting. You didn't make the team. Your proposal was shot down. Your loan wasn't
approved. Yes, it hurts. And the best way to deal with it -- rather than sulk,
despair or give up altogether -- is to do something immediately to counter it.
Apply somewhere else. Revise your proposal. Try a new tactic. Choose a different
prospect. Change your approach. Or simply make yourself irresistible. Anything
to take the emphasis off the negative and reestablish some optimism -- relegating
rejection to its rightful place: a mere bump along the way. Why make yourself
crazy?
