Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..WED.9/7/05 Kick the sugar habit. With
each new study that comes out, the case against eating too much refined sugar
(which also includes corn syrup, fructose and honey) grows ever stronger. Do a
Google search of "dangers of sugar" to gain a more balanced perspective
on this, given the billions of dollars spent yearly urging you to consume soft
drinks, cakes, cookies, ice cream, snacks, and other food loaded with sugar. You
might be shocked at the numerous conditions attributed to the sweet stuff. From
a stress standpoint alone, if you experience periods of unexplained anxiousness
during the day, a roller coaster ride of highs and lows, occasional jitters, or
even panic attacks...try cutting your intake of refined sugar for a couple of
weeks. (Eat fresh fruit instead.) If you start feeling steadier, less anxious,
more confident, and healthier overall...you've hit it right on the nose. Why make
yourself crazy? Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip Jot down your questions. Whenever you have important questions to ask of someone -- doctor, lawyer, salesperson, instructor, supervisor, contractor, whomever -- write them all down. It's very easy to forget additional questions beyond the first one, and you may not get the opportunity to ask again anytime soon. Or arduously have to track down the person a second time. Also, think about possible follow-up questions you might have if an answer goes a certain way. Many professionals today are too busy to volunteer information. You have to grill it out of them. You're paying for their expertise. Make sure you get it. Why make yourself crazy?
