Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..WED.05/04/05 If someone isn't interested, let it go. Naturally
we want other people to like what we like, to share our interests and concerns,
to experience for themselves the joy we find in things. We want our children to
partake in the same activities we loved as kids, our friends to marvel at the
movie we found so wonderful, others to take up a cause we deem so important. But
when they show little interest, or don't even respond, we can't understand it.
It distresses us. Why can't they see? Are they ignorant? No. Just different. Look,
it's okay to make your case to someone. But leave it at that. You can't will your
preferences on others. You tried. They declined. So let it go. Just be grateful
you've found what you've found, and hope that they, too, might hit upon something
equally significant. Why make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip Fire yourself. If you're constantly running late, over-scheduling your days, making far too many mistakes, rushing around in a dither, doing everything in a slapdash manner...fire yourself! Because what you're doing now simply isn't working. So start over. Rethink things. And hire a new, different you to manage your life. One who doesn't say yes to anything until you've weighed its demands against your time and energy. One who realizes it's actually more productive (and infinitely more rewarding) to do fewer things well than many things badly. Like a company that sells off a poorly performing subsidiary, rid your life of needless pursuits that do little more than compound the chaos. If your current lifestyle isn't cutting it, give it the pink slip. Why make yourself crazy?
