your alarm clock shocks you out of bed each day with a sudden, loud, jangling
noise, you could be doing yourself harm -- starting the day with a burst of unwanted
stress hormones. Try one of those new wake-up clocks that lift you gently out
of sleep with natural sounds like ocean surf, birds, rainfall, or babbling brooks.
Some even have pleasant chime sequences that gradually increase in volume. Or
wake up to an unobtrusive radio station. Set a melodious rather than dissonant
note to take you through the day. Why make yourself crazy? Today's Health Headlines Previous Stress Tip Be careful what you say in the heat of the moment. Statements made in a fit of anger, passion, fear, elation, frustration, or bravado can often dig you into a hole agonizingly difficult to climb out of. How many needless stressful situations we blurt ourselves into! Train yourself in intense moments to hold your tongue until you're able to think rationally...and prevent yourself from making promises, claims, accusations, or commitments you'll later regret. When the emotional level rises and you're tempted to say something momentous... zip it. Why make yourself crazy?
