Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..TUE.03/22/05 Ease up. You don't have to be perfect. You
can strive to be, but don't be bummed out if you're not. No one is. Being obsessed
with perfection is a source of unrelenting stress. And falling short of it, which
is inevitable, certain disappointment. A fine thank you for great effort expended!
You should be feeling good about what you accomplish...and not dwell on minor
flaws. Learn to accept less than perfect and take your satisfaction in always
having given it your best. Why make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Make the "I'm running late" phone call. When
it's fairly certain you're not going to arrive on time...make the call. Let others
know in advance you'll be delayed. It accomplishes several things. You'll experience
an immediate unburdening of stress and a sense of relief. You won't be keeping
people hanging, fuming and wondering where you are. Your alert will allow them
to alter their plans accordingly. And by the time you do arrive, they will have
appreciated your courtesy, adjusted to the situation and be more agreeable with
you. So don't just arrive way overdue and try to minimize it with a trite "Sorry
I'm late." Call ahead and let them know. Why make yourself crazy?
