Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..TUE.04/19/05 Don't let timesaving devices steal your time. Many
do. For example, that kitchen gadget with all the attachments that slices, dices,
chops, shreds, etc.? Make sure it doesn't take longer to retrieve, set up, use,
take apart, clean up, and put away than simply doing it by hand. (If you can figure
where you stored the thing in the first place.) Also, any appliance you use so
infrequently you have to reread a complicated set of instructions each time...may
not be worth the trouble. In essence, be suspect of any "miracle timesaver"
with a lot of parts to assemble (especially plastic, which inevitably breaks),
takes up a lot of space, is a headache to clean, and has a steep, easily forgotten
learning curve. They'll not only hog your time... they spell S-T-R-E-S-S. Why
make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Heed the counsel of wisdom. The wiser you are about how the world works...the true nature of people and their motives...the pitfalls, traps and dead-ends that lie in wait -- the less stressful your life will be. Wisdom is more than the accumulation of knowledge. It's the ability to take what you've learned, see things as they are and act accordingly -- with sound judgment and prudence. Wisdom can hit you like a knock on the head (for example, when you make a glaring mistake), or reveal itself through intelligent thought and deliberation. (The latter is more preferable.) Either way, heed its message. Stand aside, utilize the objective vantage point that wisdom affords you, and the choices you make can't help but be better ones. Why make yourself crazy?
