Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..THU.05/26/05 Listen to music that will soothe your soul. For
each of us, there's a musical genre or composition that has the ability to dispel
our stress and anxiety. You just have to know what it is. For some, soft and soothing
works well. For others, loud and rhythmic. If you aren't sure, sample some selections
at a music store and pick up CDs or downloads that do the trick for you. Then,
when things start to go haywire, pull out your personal stereo and let the tunes
lull you back to an even keel. Many people already avail themselves of this surefire
stress reducer. You should, too. Why make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip Meltdown? Or brownout? Take your pick. There are times when we're so harried and overwhelmed by circumstances we simply lose it. Futility, exasperation, blow-ups, tantrums, and tears often ensue. Things are said, impulsive decisions are made, we may later regret. You should never let it get that far. When symptoms of a pending meltdown appear, do what the electric companies do during periods of high demand. Go into brownout mode. Take your intensity level down a notch or two. Realize you're just one person, there are limits to what you can do, and it's just not possible to be everywhere and solve every problem. Your best will have to suffice. This acceptance will not only be a tremendous relief, it will allow you to carry on without overloading your circuits and shutting down altogether. Brownout or blow-up? Why make yourself crazy?
